How did I get so lucky??

Seriously, how?? The most important thing in life - the only thing worth living for - is LOVE, and I am completely surrounded by it!! Starting with my family, whose support and love continue to amaze me, combined with the most fantastic friends a girl could ask for. Teresa, Jamie, Ann, Kristen, and Larissa: you are what I came to college for. So this is a thank you to all family and friends (both old and new) who have stood by me and continue to shower me with your wisdom, corny jokes, and most importantly love. You have all made a good life better!!

Hi Sweetie Pie!!! Your message today could not have been more timely. At church Sunday Pastor Mike spoke about love and mentioned a survey in which 2200 teenagers across the USA were asked if they felt loved. An astonishing 79% said NO. It made me feel very sad to think that so many young people felt unloved. Of course, I naturally began thinking of you girls and a sense of peace came over me as I knew you both know how much I love you. Children do learn what they live and I get so much joy in seeing how your love shines so brightly. All the years of teaching you to love and respect all of "god's rainbow children", to stand up for what you believe in even if everyone else is sitting, to do the right thing even if others cannot or will not, to accept that you are not perfect and if you make a mistake, you correct it, forgive yourself, learn and move on. So many other lessons as well. You have shown me these past years that you listened and learned and most importantly, believe!!! It has been so amazing to see you practice what I preached all those years. Seeing you giving back to your community, loving YOURSELF and others, working hard and laughing loud...these are great things for me to witness. We had nationally known Dr. Kevin Leman come to Des Moines and do a workshop at our church (I couldn't go due to Matt and Alyson having their baby) and it was he who spoke of the survey that Pastor Mike recounted. Today I count my blessings again that you are my much loved, and much admired, daughter. You are the best and I love you so very much!!! Thanks for the call a few minutes ago. Have a great day, learn lots and I will talk to you later tonight. I do have a meeting with Rebuilding Together to plan our annual fall fundraiser at the ballroom so I won't be home until 9-9:30 but will call you then.
Love you lots, Mom
